Instructions from Tie Dye:

Catapults – Pink Porlocks

The Catapults had a jam-packed first day at camp. We led the morning flag, and then went right to crafts, where we learned how to sew buttons onto custom tote bags. We headed to science to make slime and test pH strips before going back to our unit for more sewing – this time, we started with our Cornish Pixie craft. The porlocks shot bows and arrows, shot slingshots, and hiked for fresh watermelon before ending the day making our SWAPs. Tomorrow is character day, so make sure to bring a costume if you’d like to be in the photos, and have something to wear underneath that is weather-appropriate. It is also tie-dye day, so send your camper with something to dye (a t-shirt, pants, pillowcase, etc).

Tornado 1 – Red Firedrakes

We had an amazing first day at camp! We started off our day with some sports and games, which entailed playing Quidditch! After having some fun on the field, we headed back up to our unit and played some get-to-know-you games and made some Harry Potter themed flying keys (with wings) to hang up on the pavilion. We ate some lunch and then headed over to tie dye! While some of the girls were dying, the others learned some fun camp songs! Afterwards, we learned how to sew buttons onto a cloth bag to bring home! Lastly, we had some fun making our unit swaps!! Don’t forget your name lanyards and water bottles and make sure to bring them EVERY DAY!!! We can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow for Harry Potter Character Day!

Tornado 2 – Blue Dragons

We had a great start to camp! First, we got to know each other, and then we headed down to the field to play Quidditch! After some fun time in the sun, we went on a scavenger hunt for a watermelon, which was so refreshing after running around. After our treat (and some more games!), we headed back to the field to practice archery! Some of our talented girls even got bullseyes. Remember to wear something you’re not afraid to get messy---we have tie-dye tomorrow! Also remember to bring lanyards and water bottles every day! See you all tomorrow!

Bats 1 – Yellow Fruits

The Yellow Fruits had an amazing first day of camp! Today we started our day off with archery and the girls had a blast! After lunch we headed to the challenge course where the girls worked on their teamwork skills and problem solving. Lastly, we ended our day with making Minion themed swaps! Bats 2 – Blue Basilisks

The Blue Basilisk had a great day first day of camp! We made trail mix to start, then practiced our aim at archery! After many bullseyes and refueling with lunch our owl, A.C., showed us how to make our own mandrakes!! We then made towel owls at crafts to add to our mystical animal collection! We ended our day by tapping into our inner scientist with the science station! Tomorrow we are doing tie-dye, so please make sure your camper brings their shirt/item to dye!

Sunrays 1 – Purple Princesses

The Purple Princesses started off with tie-dye. Our little artists are so excited to show you their beautifully tie-dyed items. They do need to be kept in their bags untouched for at least 24 hours before being washed out for a bright and strong dyed item. We then did crafts and they made a washcloth owls! We had a scavenger hunt for clues that led them back to our unit for some delicious and fresh watermelon. Our day ended with sports and games - ask your campers how they enjoyed quidditch and quaffle. Today your camper came home with a T-shirt. They MUST wear their camp T-shirts on Wednesday! We can’t wait to see your campers again tomorrow for another fun and adventure filled day! Please make sure your camp nametag lanyard tomorrow!

Sunrays 2 – Mischievous Marigolds

The Mischievous Marigolds had a GREAT first day at camp! Everyone’s creative spirits soared as we crafted our wands, started a collaborative art project, made our very own pet owls, and tie-dyed at the lodge. It’s not a camp day without treats – so we strolled by HQ for some sweet treats after lunch. We ended the day by exercising our bravery and problem solving on the challenge course. The campers are an amazing team! Your camper brought their camp shirt home today—WEAR IT ON WEDNESDAY!! Please also remember to send extra clothes in case the campers get wet or muddy (very likely when it is extra hot this week!)

Sunrays 3 – Minty Mermaids

The Minty Mermaids made a splash on our first day of camp! We tie-dyed, painted shells, and had a double dose of owl crafts. We explored science. We ended the day with delicious ice cream and popsicles, and we can’t wait to see you tomorrow! Please remember to wear your camp shirt for pictures on Wednesday!

The Rangers had a hot and sweaty day. We started off on the challenge course working on our team building and cooperation skills. We also did tie dye; everyone enjoyed the messy time! After lunch we had a very spirited and competitive game of Quidditch! After some delicious ice cream, we had an amazing time at arts and crafts. Tomorrow Rangers will be making smores and hot dogs, parents should feel free to pack a lighter lunch.

Pixies – All Powerful Pixies

The Pixies had a magical first day at camp. They first dyed water and added flowers to water to change the color of the flowers. To go along with the flowers, we played with toy flowers and made toy gardens. After that, we tie dyed t-shirts with beautiful colors! After lunch we had ice cream as a treat. Then we worked on bracelets that we’re making for the sunrays. And finally, we made dragon eggs in art and crafts out of clay. Remember to bring an extra pair of clothing for tomorrow, we’re going to get wet. Also, wear your camp shirt on Wednesday!
