The Daily Prophet Thursday 2026
The Daily Prophet & Magical Happenings - July 16th, 2026
Tomorrow is Bring an Owl to Camp Day! Come with an owl (stuffed, paper cut out, etc) on our last day of camp!
Sit-Upons!
Wondering what the green buckets that came home from camp are used for? Great Question! The campers are decorating a bucket that can specifically handle even adults sitting on them when the lid is secured. They are perfect to take to any outing (including at camp!) as they can store items and serve as a portable seat. Sit-Upons have a place in Girl Scout tradition with many versions that have been used over the years. What trip or outdoor event does your camper plan to bring their AMAZING Sit-Upon to?
Instructions from Tie Dye:
Please wait to remove the tie-dyed item from the bag until the following day, so the dye can set in. Using gloves, rinse the item, then remove the rubber bands and wash the item in cold water - separately – do NOT put it in the wash with other clothing/items.
Catapults – Pink Porlocks
The Pink Porlocks had a jam-packed day today! We learned how to throw tomahawks and made lava lamps in science. After lunch, the Catapults brushed up on their fire safety and were rewarded with s’mores (yum!). We ended the day at challenge course, where we got to try the flying squirrel, zipline, and giant’s ladder. We also discovered Scabbers hiding away and traded him back to HQ in exchange for Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Jellybeans (double yum!). Tomorrow is ‘bring an owl day,’ so feel free to bring your Familiar to camp, as long as they’re okay with getting a little dirty.
Tornado 1 – Red Firedrakes
The Red Firedrakes had a very busy day of having fun and challenging themselves! We first started off the day at the challenge course. We were split into two groups, one doing the zipline first and the other doing the giant’s ladder. There were so much bravery and encouragement seen throughout our time at the challenge course! We also got the chance to climb a wall using each other for support! Afterwards, we had a tasty lunch and made some arts and crafts (like origami and gimp!). We used markers to color our take-home dried dragon eyes that we made yesterday. Then, we walked down to go learn about fire safety and get a chance to make our own s’mores. We practiced doing flag for the opening flag tomorrow, and the other girls who were not doing flag had fun with some games! Overall, today showcased our capabilities as Girl Scouts and challenged some campers to try something new! Please make sure to bring your water, lunch, and lanyard. Tomorrow is also Bring Your Owl to Camp Day! Please make sure to bring an owl friend that is okay with getting a bit dirty at camp! We can’t wait to see you for our last day at camp and hope this week has been amazing!
Tornado 2 – Blue Dragons
We had a day full of yummy treats today! To start off, we made magic wands and transitioned right into having some morning ice cream. After we had our lunch, we worked on our wands and mandrakes from yesterday and then went to crafts where we decorated sit-upon buckets! Afterwards, to cool off from the hot sun, we did sponge wars. To finish off our day, we made a fire and s’mores at outdoor skills. We can’t wait to see you tomorrow for our last day! Please remember to hydrate during the evenings when you get home as well as while you’re at camp.
Bats 1 – Yellow Fruits
The Yellow Fruits had a full day today! We started off with making friendship bracelets and then headed to outdoor skills to make smores! Next, we made some edible wands from pretzels and frosting! Then in science we made lava lamps and “troll snot”! Then we ended our day with morse code bracelets and butterfly sun catchers!
Bats 2 – Blue Basilisks
The Blue Basilisks started our day by continuing to make swaps! (IMPORTANT!! SOME of our campers brought home their bags of swaps, or left them at home yesterday, please make sure they make it back to camp tomorrow morning so they can participate in the swap meet!!) Afterwards we practiced our fire skills with matches and made s’mores!! After some hangout at our unit, we started cardboard wheel bracelets! We cooled off with ice cream this afternoon and hung out at the fire circle where we versed the boys in gaga ball!! Reminder, the cardboard circles can be reused to make more bracelets!
Sunrays 1 – Purple Princesses
The Purple Princesses started off the day with potions, making lava lamps and playing with ogre’s boogers. Later in the day we played water games to keep cool in the heat. After, we had ice cream which kept us cool through our afternoon craft. The craft we made today was band-aid family trees, getting to be creative with coloring the background for each camper’s family. We’re looking forward to finishing camp with bring an owl day and a few more crafts and snacks!
Sunrays 2 – Mischievous Marigolds
The Mischievous Marigolds had an amazing Thursday! We had our second trip to science and made some fun lava lamps. We had a hike to find some clues that led us to a watermelon! We spent our afternoon making some crafts and had a texture scavenger hunt around our shelter. We look forward to seeing everyone for a fun FriYAY, which is bring your owl day!
Sunrays 3 – Minty Mermaids
The Minty Mermaids continued exploring on our second to last day of camp. We started the day at outdoor skills where we learned to safely light matches and enjoyed delicious s’mores. We revisited our favorite spots at camp on a scavenger hunt that led us right back to Easy Creek and a watermelon snack. We cooled off with water games before coloring shrinky-dink keychains and starting a decoupage project (both of which we will take home tomorrow). We finished off the day making paper chains and visiting science, where we made super cool lava lamps. We can’t wait to see you tomorrow!
Rangers
The Rangers started their day up at eagle’s nest where we did a science experiment using Diet Coke and mentos. Needless to say, it was an explosive and sticky mess. We then played some games before heading down to Ashgrove for lunch. Then we went over to outdoor skills where we had smores and learned different ways to start fire. We played a few more games, like ships and shores before heading to science to do some cool experiments. Rangers had a blast learning and playing gaga ball whenever we had time in the day.
Pixies – All Powerful Pixies
The Pixies started off their day by delivering bracelets to the Sunrays unit! Next, they started working on their swaps for their unit; they’re making flowers out of pipe cleaners. After that, they worked on a puzzle and took care of their magical creatures. Next, they went to the archery range and shot some arrows. They went in some sprinklers after and to dry off they played with chalk in the sun. Then they ate lunch outside and looked for Scabbers the rat. After that they went to outdoor skills and ate some s’mores. To end the day, they made lava lamps at science.
